Lifescape is always looking for volunteers. Through our variety of programs and services, we aim to keep older adults of northwestern Illinois choose lives of Independence and dignity. Volunteer with our nutrition department, with our Information and Assistance caseworkers, out in the community, and many other opportunities .

Boone County Conservation District

Boone County

This volunteer station is perfect for anyone looking to work outside and give back to our environment. The Boone County Conservation District manages over 3,00 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands in scenic Boone County, Illinois. Minimum impact recreational opportunities, special events and educational programs are offered to the public throughout the year.


Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful

Another wonderful option for someone interested in environment stewardship is Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB). They are an award-winning, non-governmental, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to educating and involving individuals in productive solutions that keep our community environment clean and green.

Habitat for Humanity is an incredible organization that makes an impact all across the United States. Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Ken-Rock Community Center has a strong history of providing enriching opportunities in our area. Ken-Rock Community Center provides organized sports, community recreation activities, year-round youth services, adult technology education, senior citizen activities and social service opportunities for citizens of our community. Through these services, we strive to impact the family structure.

Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging (NIAAA)

Boone and Winnebago Counties

Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging (NIAAA) has been meeting the needs of older adults and their families since 1974. NIAAA is a non-profit organization and has been designated by the Illinois Department on Aging to be the area agency on aging for northwestern Illinois. NIAAA is part of the "aging network," which includes the federal Administration on Aging, the Illinois Department on Aging, and local public/private organizations serving older adults.

Rockford Rescue Mission

Rockford Rescue Mission is recognized as the region’s primary provider of assistance to the homeless, near-homeless, addicted and working poor in the Rock River Valley.

Greater Rockford Pantry Coalition

The Greater Rockford Pantry Coalition fights hunger in our 815 by providing nutritious emergency food to any and all community members in need. There is NEVER a reason for anyone to go hungry!


Red Cross

Volunteers carry out 90% of the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. Do Hands-On Work — “Boots on the Ground” volunteers are out in the community, whenever and wherever they’re needed.


Northern Illinois Diabetes Coalition

Winnebago County

Northern Illinois Diabetes Coalition is a non-profit organization started in Rockford, IL. in 1999. Serving 15 counties in Northwest Illinois, our mission is to serve as a community resource in diabetes awareness, prevention, self-management of diabetes and chronic disease, and professional development in the care and management of diabetes.


Natural Land Institute

Winnebago County

For 60 years, the Natural Land Institute has helped residents of northern Illinois conserve the land they cherish. We are one of the oldest private conservation groups in the Midwest. We are a member supported, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving land and natural diversity for future generations. Since 1958, NLI has protected, managed, and restored more than 17,300 acres throughout Illinois and southern Wisconsin. These include prairies, forests, wetlands, and river corridors. Serving as a regional land trust, the Institute accepts donations of properties, buys lands, manages natural areas, and helps landowners establish legal agreements that permanently limit harmful use and development.

University of Illinois Master Gardener

You can become a Master Gardener if: you have some knowledge or experience in gardening or landscape management (you need not be an expert), you are willing to learn about horticulture and share this knowledge with others, you are accepted into a local training program and can volunteer time conducting horticultural educational programming coordinated through your local Extension unit.


Rock Valley College Center for Learning and Retirement

Rock Valley College: Center for Learning in Retirement - Retirement doesn’t have to be an ending. Make it a new beginning. Take advantage of the many exciting lifelong learning opportunities the Center for Learning in Retirement has to offer! For our members, we offer over 350 classes each year, bus trips, extended trips, social events, a fitness program, special interest groups, and many volunteer opportunities. Meet new people.
