Franklin Creek Conservation Association - Lee County
As the “friends” group to the Franklin Creek State Natural Area, Franklin Creek Conservation Association operates the Grist Mill as our Welcome and Education Center, with current activities, temporary and permanent exhibits. FCCA hosts both regularly scheduled and special events from April through October. Something interesting is always on the Calendar for visitors to join in. A guided hike or stewardship activities to improve the quality and bio-diversity of the natural area happen throughout the year. A variety of special events pepper the season with everything from educational workshops, to corn grinding, to Evenings at the Mill, and the Singing Bird Chautauqua, a fall family festival, to youth activity days.
Home of Hope Cancer Wellness Center - Lee County
Home of Hope Cancer Wellness Center is a haven created out of the need for cancer patients, survivors, and their families to share and heal. From prevention education to stress-relieving wellness services, our programs are designed to cover various aspects of living with cancer. We also foster a warm and inviting atmosphere where those affected by the disease can find support. Our center is also a good place to connect with others who understand their journey.
Lee County Council on Aging - Lee County
Lee County Council on Aging's mission, a not for profit organization, to serve all members of the community regardless of race, sex, color, national origin or religion and act as a conduit with the public and state agencies to help seniors maintain optimal level of function. This is achieved by building community capacity, assure transportation, advocate and coordinate programs of aging issues, and maximize availability of resources to attain individual needs
Nachusa Grasslands - Lee County
Nachusa Grasslands is significant because the site contains numerous prairie remnants, residuals of the most threatened major ecosystem in the world. It is an unusually diverse mosaic of prairie, wetlands, and savannas which encompasses a rich diversity of plants, birds, reptiles, insects, mammals, and interesting geological features. Nachusa Grasslands is a large scale, high-quality restoration effort; the result of a unique collaboration between staff and volunteers.
Paw Paw Boys and Girls Club
Volunteers are needed to assist kids with before and after school programs. Programs are from 6:15-8:15 am and 2:30-6:00 pm. Activities include homework help, art projects, and snacks.
The Salvation Army - Lee & Whiteside County
Volunteers are valuable assets in The Salvation Army's efforts to meet the changing needs of our world. Through the skills and experience, they bring to The Army, volunteers make significant contributions to society by positively impacting the lives of those they assist. To optimize collective resources supporting human service programs that improve the quality of life in Lee County. The United Way of Lee County partners with many different non-profit organizations for various human service programs which advance the common good of Lee County. United Way serves as the critical link bringing together our diverse communities to build stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities as cost efficient and effective as possible.
