The Golden Meals Program provides meals to senior citizens aged 60 and over at 4 meal sites in Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties. Home delivered meals are also provided to those who are home-bound, isolated, frail or unable to prepare meals for themselves.

Volunteers at Rock River Hospice & Home form a dedicated group of loyal and sensitive individuals who help ensure the mission of Hospice care. Committed to excellence in care, Hospice volunteers have a profound respect for the specialized needs and comfort of terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice Volunteers understand the complex challenges that patients and families face when coping with a terminal illness. Volunteers provide ongoing support and reassurance as well as a broad spectrum of services. These include daily household tasks and activities that contribute to the comfort of the patient and family.

Would you like to join a team that helps those who would like to improve their reading level and overall personal goals? VITAL is an adult literacy program that has serviced hundreds of individuals throughout our community. It is a fun, fulfilling, and effective way to help others and give back.

Volunteers are essential to the Sauk Valley Foodbank. We have a number of different opportunities available, including but not limited to: Food sorting, help us sort, stock, and organize donations, Public Drive Through Giveaway – We offer direct distributions to those in need and we can always use help during these special events held on Saturday’s, Clerical work.

UW of Whiteside County is a locally-based, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that was established in 1945 when the Sterling Chamber of Commerce community leaders came together to explore the benefits of a community wide fundraising campaign to be called the Community Chest. Seven decades later, United Way of Whiteside County continues to build stronger communities through its annual community wide campaign as well as developing partnerships and initiatives which support local and human service programs.

The Mission of the Whiteside County Senior Center is to provide services and programs for senior citizens throughout Whiteside County, that promote their well-being, encourage their involvement in community life, and support their independence.

The Function of the Conservation District is to take available technical, financial, and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus or coordinate them so that they meet the needs of the local land user for conservation of soil, water and related resources.
