17th Judicial Circuit Court

The 17th Judicial Circuit Court is looking for volunteers to staff the reception desk at the Domestic Violence Assistance Center located in the Winnebago County Courthouse. The Center serves as an advocacy center to assist domestic violence survivors with filing and obtaining Orders of Protection.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

AARP Foundation volunteers fulfill our mission in the most direct way possible: by sharing their knowledge, skills and wisdom with their communities. Whether helping older adults with low income file their taxes with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide or tutoring young students to read at grade level with AARP Foundation Experience Corps, our volunteers transform lives. The results are stronger communities, a greater sense of fulfillment for our older adult volunteers, and important steps toward reducing senior poverty.

Alzheimer's Association

Our volunteers are passionate, inspired and want to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia in our community. The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Anderson Japanese Gardens

Volunteers with a passion for the outdoors and Japanese culture serve as Garden Monitors, Tour Group Leaders, Office Assistants and Gift Shop Associates.

Boys and Girls Club of Rockford

The Boys and Girls Club provides innovative, quality programs in a safe setting to empower youth to excel in school and lead productive lives.

Carpenter's Place

Carpenter’s Place provides the tools necessary for rebuilding the lives of the homeless. Inspired by Christ’s compassion, Carpenter’s Place offers direction with accountability to people with broken lives, helping them find peace with God, themselves, and their communities. Whether providing meals or doing laundry, mentoring guests or speaking at morning chapel, organizing donations or filing paperwork, volunteers help us accomplish our mission everyday. We value our volunteers and want each one to serve in a role that is a good fit.

Catholic Charities of Rockford

Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Rockford continues the ministry of Jesus in faithfulness to the Magisterium of the Church. Our mission is to serve God’s people for the common good with compassion, dignity and respect; to assist people in achieving a degree of independence consonant with their human dignity; and to work in solidarity with the Church and other people of goodwill in advocating for justice.

Forest Preserves of Winnebago County

The forest preserve district is dedicated to protecting, conserving, enhancing, and promoting Winnebago County’s natural heritage for the environmental, educational, and recreational benefit of present and future generations.

Friends of Rockford Public Library

The Friends of RPL is a nonprofit organization supporting the library and its programs. The organization raises money through bookstores and annual book sales.

GiGi's Playhouse

We make a lifetime commitment to changing lives and providing hope through the consistent delivery of FREE educational, therapeutic, and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the community, using a replicable playhouse model.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is an incredible organization that makes an impact all across the United States. Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

Heartland Hospice

Heartland Hospice volunteers are trained to meet the needs of patients and families. They visit on a schedule, but they are open to change as dictated by the patient’s health and interests. They are unpaid, yet priceless. Because hospice patients have unique end-of-life needs, hospice seeks volunteers from all backgrounds, experiences and cultures.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful - Boone and Winnebago Counties

Another wonderful option for someone interested in environment stewardship is Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB). They are an award-winning, non-governmental, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to educating and involving individuals in productive solutions that keep our community environment clean and green.

Lifescape

Lifescape is always looking for volunteers. Through our variety of programs and services, we aim to keep older adults of northwestern Illinois choose lives of Independence and dignity. Volunteer with our nutrition department, with our Information and Assistance caseworkers, out in the community, and many other opportunities.

Laurent House Museum

If you would like to join a close knit group of volunteers who are passionate about serving the public, historic preservation, architecture, and honoring the Laurents.

Lockwood Park Trailside Equestrian Centre and Children's Farm

Lockwood Park Trailside Equestrian Centre and Children’s Farm is home to a variety of animals including horses, goats, sheep, llama, rabbits, ducks, a donkey – and everyone’s favorite, Huckleberry and his pony friends. Explore over 146 acres of gently rolling hills, meadows, woods, natural areas, stream, 15-mile numbered trail system (hiking, biking, or horseback riding), playground, picnic areas, and much more.

Midway Village Museum - Winnebago County

Ranked by visitors to Northern Illinois as a top attraction, Midway Village Museum is an authentic experience combining history, heritage and the exhibition of artifacts to create an unforgettable, educational visitor experience. Visitors explore life and culture during the late 19th Century in Northern Illinois.

Natural Land Institute

This member supported nonprofit organization is dedicated to preserving land and natural diversity for future generations. Volunteers help restore and maintain native habitats, such as the Nygren Wetlands.

Nature at the Confluence

The 80 acre campus located at the confluence of the Rock River, Turtle Creek, and Kelly Creek, offers visitors and volunteers a 5-acre prairie restoration, trails, learning gardens, and educational programs.

Nicholas Conservatory

Rockford’s Nicholas Conservatory is the 3rd largest in the state, featuring an 11,000 square foot plant exhibition, water features, and year-round educational exhibits.

Nik's Wish

Nik’s Wish brings joy to young adults ages 18-24 fighting cancer by fulfilling their special wish, such as trips, outings, events, concerts, or celebrity meet & greets.

Northern Illinois Food Bank

We work with over 900 food pantries, mobile food truck markets, and soup kitchens who distribute perishable and non perishable foods that you can choose from based on your dietary needs.

Northern Illinois Hospice

Northern Illinois Hospice provides end of life care and support for individuals and their families. Volunteer opportunities include patient care/companionship, respite help for families, event and administrative support, and bereavement care.

Rock House Kids

A program was developed to give them a safe place to get off the streets in the evenings where they would be fed a hot meal, mentored by loving staff and volunteers, and supplied with essentials (i.e. hygiene supplies, winter wear, etc.) they would not otherwise have the resources to buy themselves. Since its inception, RHK has made it our mission to share God’s love with inner-city children through Biblical principles, with physical and spiritual solutions.

Rockford Rescue Mission

Rockford Rescue Mission offers Christ-centered care to people struggling with challenges like homelessness, poverty, abuse and addiction. With the help of our community, our ministry seeks to: Rescue those in immediate crisis. Recover people’s dignity and sense of self-worth. Restore the lives of men, women and children. Your support lifts up the hurting in our community and gives them a second chance in life.

Rock River Valley Pantry - Winnebago County

Rock River Valley Pantry fights hunger in the community by providing nutritious food to those in urgent need. Our mission is to provide healthy, nutritionally balanced emergency food to families, individuals, and elderly who are in need of assistance. You can be a part of that effort! Today, the Pantry is operated by three full time and four part time staff members along with the help of volunteers who provide thousands of hours of service. The Pantry receives food and financial support from all segments of the community including churches, businesses, individuals, local retailers, foundations, and organizations

Salvation Army

Volunteers are valuable assets in The Salvation Army’s efforts to meet the changing needs of our world. Through the skills and experience, they bring to The Army, volunteers make significant contributions to society by positively impacting the lives of those they assist. Severson Dells

Severson Dells’ mission is to link people to nature through education and research in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. We promote awareness of the natural world, fostering respect, enjoyment and preservation now and in the future.

Sharestuff Thrift Store

Sharestuff continues to be a source of quality goods at an affordable cost. Sharestuff Clothing & More offers only clean, gently-used clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family. For those media buffs, we have a wide range of books, movies and music to look through. You will also find linens, luggage, and toys.

The Grove

The Grove helps students succeed by offering tutoring sessions after school in the new housing complex on New Towne Dr.

The YWCA Literacy Council - Winnebago County

The Literacy Council exists to provide literacy instruction to individuals and families to strengthen communities. We do this: regardless of means or ability to pay, to improve quality of life for individuals, and to advocate for literacy awareness and services.

Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens

Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens preserves and shares the legacy of the Tinker family and inspires visitors to connect with history.

United Way of Rock River Valley
