Dekalb Area Women's Center
The DeKalb Area Women's Center is a nonprofit, all-volunteer community center that was organized in late 1993 to develop a community supportive of women's culture, celebrating women and encouraging empowerment of women while working toward elimination of sexism and other discrimination.
Dekalb County Community Gardens
The DeKalb County Community Gardens (DCCG) is a non-profit organization that empowers people to choose healthy and sustainable foods through education and participation. DCCG provides access to fresh, local, sustainably grown organic vegetables for all who may be in need, with more than 15 acres of growing space.
Dekalb County Forest Preserve District - Dekalb County
The mission of the Dekalb County Forest Preserve District is to acquire lands in order to preserve, protect, restore and restock the flora, the fauna and the natural beauties of such lands, in their natural state and condition, for the education and recreation of our citizens.
DeKalb County History Center - Dekalb County
The DeKalb County History Center, in partnership with the Joiner History Room, explores the diverse stories that are part of our county’s history; gathers people together through exhibits, programs, and research; and inspires people to apply this knowledge to enlighten the decisions of tomorrow.
Elder Care Services - Dekalb County
Also the location of our DeKalb County office, Elder Care Services is your senior service connection. We provide service to those who are aged 60 years and older. ECS is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) agency contracted by the State of Illinois. Often we find that we need help with some of life’s changes. That's why our compassionate, trained, and licensed staff provides education and coordination of services to DeKalb County seniors, their caregivers, and family members for free.
Family Service Agency
Family Service Agency serves as an "umbrella agency" of five distinct community programs: Children’s Advocacy Center, Youth Mentoring, Senior Services, Center for Counseling, and the Community Action Program.
Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in DeKalb County, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Northern Illinois Food Bank - Dekalb County
Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB)'s vision is for everyone in Northern Illinois to have the food they need to thrive. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and proud member of Feeding America, they serve our neighbors in 13 counties with dignity, equity and convenience, providing 250,000 meals a day. They bring together manufacturers, local and corporate grocers, area farmers, corporations, foundations, and individuals who donate food and funding, and each week nearly 1,000 volunteers help us evaluate, repack, and distribute food. NIFB also proudly partner with more than 900 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and youth and senior feeding programs to provide nutritious food and resources.
ProMedica Hospice
ProMedica Hospice integrates holistic principles with palliative disease management, expert pain and symptom control, family education and psychospiritual support for end-of-life care.
Safe Passage
Safe Passage is DeKalb County’s only Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Center. The organization provides services to survivors and their loved ones including shelter, counseling, and advocacy. All survivor services are completely free, confidential, and available to all, no matter your age, gender, or when the abuse occurred.
The Salvation Army - Dekalb County
Volunteers are valuable assets in The Salvation Army's efforts to meet the changing needs of our world. Through the skills and experience, they bring to The Army, volunteers make significant contributions to society by positively impacting the lives of those they assist. The Salvation Army volunteers change lives, uplift families, and support communities throughout our nation every day.
Unity Hospice
Unity Hospice volunteers provide support & compassion to people who need it most, when they need it most. They help bring comfort and care to families facing end-of-life moments.
Voluntary Action Center (VAC) - Dekalb County
Voluntary Action Center (VAC) is committed to providing high-quality services that address the basic transportation and nutrition needs of its community. VAC was incorporated in 1974. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of representatives from communities throughout DeKalb County. VAC is here to support the needs of the members of DeKalb, Bureau, LaSalle, Kendall, and Putnam Counties. Over the years, those needs have grown exponentially. VAC's goal is to ensure the health and wellness of those who need them.
